Sterling Silver Flatware - Where Can I Buy It

I've seen a lot of places that sell this stuff, and they vary widely in terms of service, friendliness, knowledge, and price. First, forget about going to a large chain store. Unless they are blowing it out on a super-clearance, you won't save any money, and the help there tends to be uneducated. Plus, you'll probably wait about 6-12 weeks for stuff to arrive, and yes they do take your money up front.

Now, I'm not against big stores in general. As a fan of capitalism, I realize that purchasing power has driven down prices for consumers (thanks, Wal-Mart!). However, sterling silver flatware has become such a commodity that even some small independent stores sell it for 10-20% over cost. And you'll get much better service from someone who's actually seen the product and can explain it to you.

For now, the manufacturers of sterling silver flatware don't sell directly to the public (with the exception of Reed & Barton). Even if they wanted to, I can't imagine why they'd want to enter a business model where the margins are so slim, even if they are digging this up out of the ground and making it themselves.

Here are the people I personally recommend, based largely on low prices and friendly service:
